How we use TrainingPeaks to coach our athletes.

The best coaching technology should make training clearer, not more complicated. Here is how TrainingPeaks helps us connect the plan to the person running it.

Runner moving along a mountain road

TrainingPeaks is where our athletes see the week ahead, record what actually happened, and stay connected to their coach. It gives us one shared place to turn a training idea into a practical session.

A plan built around the athlete

We start with the runner, not the software. Before a workout reaches TrainingPeaks, we consider the athlete's goal, current fitness, schedule, training history, and the realities of Calgary weather and terrain. TrainingPeaks then gives that plan a clear home.

Clear workouts with a purpose

Every session includes the details an athlete needs: warm-up, effort, recovery, cool-down, and the reason the workout matters. Pace, heart-rate, and perceived-effort guidance help runners choose the right intensity instead of chasing a number that does not fit the day.

Feedback that improves the next week

After a run, athletes can upload their data and leave notes about effort, soreness, sleep, and anything that affected the session. We review that context alongside the numbers. A workout is not simply good or bad; it is information that helps us make the next decision.

Progress you can understand

TrainingPeaks helps us look for trends over time: consistency, workload, recovery, and how an athlete responds to different sessions. That bigger picture keeps one difficult run from defining the whole training cycle and gives athletes confidence when progress is gradual.

The technology supports the relationship

TrainingPeaks does not replace coaching. It gives the coaching relationship a reliable rhythm: plan, train, reflect, adjust. Our job is to interpret the data, listen to the athlete, and keep the process focused on sustainable progress.
